Season five of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale is almost here, and we already knew that June (Elisabeth Moss) and Serena (Yvonne Strahovski) would be facing off against each other after June killed Commander Waterford (Joseph Fiennes). What we didn’t know, however, is that June would be going back into Gilead. Why? Because Gilead (a.k.a. Serena) is coming for her in Canada and it’s the last thing they would expect (I guess?).
Like the teaser before it, the latest trailer emphasizes that the world of The Handmaid’s Tale is very, very, depressing and that there will be a lot of drama between June and Serena in the upcoming season. This trailer also has plenty of shots of Serena being very, very pregnant (a big thing in this world) and ends with June hoping that their children don’t ruin the world as much as they have. I hope so too, June. I hope so too.
If this trailer wasn’t grim enough for you, Hulu is using the tag line “Some sins can’t be washed away,” for the season. Good times.
The fifth season of The Handmaid’s Tale premieres on Hulu on Wednesday, September 14th. In addition to Moss and Strahovski, it stars Bradley Whitford, Max Minghella, O-T Fagbenle, Samira Wiley, Ann Dowd, Madeline Brewer, Amanda Brugel, and Sam Jaeger.
